Our Farm will be modernised by utilising the latest state-of-the-art recirculation technology. This will enable us to farm and process Atlantic salmon sustainably and locally while minimising the negative environmental impact of farming. Additionally, our facility will ensure our fish are healthy, free from antibiotics and microplastics, and 100% traceable in production and waste emissions. By growing our fish sustainably and regionally, we guarantee longer shelf life and superior quality for our customers.

Innovative Recirculation Systems

Castell Salmon utilises a flexible, module-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) optimised for salmon farming. Our system ensures stable water parameters, which optimise growth, reduce the feed conversion ratio (FCR), and enhance survival rates. It maintains a controlled environment through advanced recirculation technology.

Sustainable Energy Use

Leveraging the latest advancements, our third-generation technology optimises water, electricity, and oxygen consumption. Coupled with our spring water supply used as cooling water, our system exemplifies energy efficiency in aquaculture.

Water Treatment and Quality Control

Our state-of-the-art water treatment includes HydrotechTM drum filters and AnoxKaldnesTM MBBR technology, ensuring the highest water quality by removing harmful substances and optimising oxygen levels. This results in a healthy growing environment for our salmon and significantly reduces water usage.

Feed Management System

Our centralised feeding system integrates data with RAS water quality management. This predictive tool allows proactive interventions to optimise feed conversion ratios and growth performances, significantly enhancing resource efficiency.

Dynamic Tank Design

The grow-out module features adjustable water velocity and movable grids within two main circular tanks, providing optimal conditions across all stages of salmon growth. This design minimises stress and maximises fish welfare, producing high-quality, healthy salmon.

Biosecurity and Fish Welfare

Castell Salmon prioritises biosecurity and fish welfare with minimal human interaction and a chemical-free environment. Our RAS systems are designed to reduce disease risk and stress, ensuring the health and quality of our fish from egg to harvest.

Advanced Filtration and Oxygenation

Our facilities are equipped with cutting-edge filtration and oxygenation technologies, including ozonated protein skimming and CO2 degassing. These processes ensure the removal of excess bacteria and maintain ideal oxygen levels throughout our tanks.

Integrated Control Systems

Our operation is overseen by a sophisticated SCADA system, enabling precise control over environmental conditions such as pH, temperature, and water quality and enhancing the safety and efficiency of our farm.

Our facility features an advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) with sludge dewatering and sophisticated MBBR systems, efficiently treating and reducing nitrogen and organic matter. Incorporating sustainable practices, we ensure all by-products are managed responsibly and dramatically lower the environmental impact of our operations, aligning with global sustainability standards.
